MINI . Facts on the 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28In 1967, GM first produced the Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang. By 1969 this sleek coupe was one of the most popular of the muscle cars, due to its superb handling and sculpted design. The RPO Z28 Camaro Special Performance Package on the 1969 Camaro allowed customers the option to upgrade performance, horsepower, and style. According to the National Auto Dealers Association,, the manufacturer's suggested retail price on a standard Z/28 was $3,184 when it was introduced for the 1969 model year. Body Features The Z/28 option has been available on many Camaro production years. There are a few key features that distinguish the 1969 version from other years. A 1969 Camaro sports the same first generation F-body as the 1967 and 1968 Camaro. The body was redesigned in 1970 to the sleeker second generation F-body. In 1969 the Camaro was modified from the previous year to appear longer and lower. It has a distinct midline running delicately down the length of the car. Brake lights were changed from two to three sections. Z/28 Option The Z/28 option is identified most easily from other 1969 Camaros by its emblems. A red and chrome Z/28 emblem is mounted off center of the egg-crate grille. A similar emblem can be found just behind the headlines on the front fenders, and one more centered between the two taillights. The Z/28 was available only as a coupe. Engine and Transmission The 1969 Z/28 power option included an upgrade to a powerful 302 cubic inch, 5.0 liter V-8 engine, also called a DZ engine. The stock transmission is a 4-speed manual Muncie transmission. The horsepower is conservatively rated at 290 at 5,800 RPM, though some tests have produced up to 400 HP. Torque is 290 ft. lbs. at 4,200 RPM. Engine performance is enhanced by the upgraded cooling system, which includes a heavy-duty radiator and temperature-controlled fan. It can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds with an estimated maximum speed of 120 mph. The Z/28 runs a quarter mile in 15.12 seconds at 94.8 mph. Suspension and Handling The initial design of the Camaro included computer technology to develop the steering and handling. The result is a unibody set on a specialized suspension, all geared toward offering increased handling and a smoother ride. Single leaf rear springs and a tight steering system drove the 15 x 7 inch Rally Wheels on Goodyear wide tread E70-15 tires. Other specs Additional specifications of a 1969 Z/28 Camaro include a wheelbase of 108 inches. Size is 186 inches long, 72.5 inches wide, and 51.4 inches high. The weight is 3,525 lbs. The 1969 production totalled 19,014 for the Z/28.
MINI . How to Replace a Brake Light Bulb on a 2005 ColoradoThe brake light bulb on the 2005 Chevrolet Colorado is one of three bulbs inside the tail light assembly unit. The truck's tailgate hides the entryway to the tail light bulbs. Once you understand the screws that need to be removed, the replacement process is easy. All you need is a screwdriver and the replacement bulb, and you should be able to complete the job yourself. The replacement bulb for the 2005 Colorado is number 3057. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Screwdriver Brake light bulb #3057 Step by Step : 1 Open the tail gate and lay it down so that you can see the inside frame near the light assembly. 2 Unscrew the two lamp assembly screws using your screwdriver, and set aside. 3 Pull out the lamp assembly from the truck until you can handle the bulb sockets. The top bulb is the brake light (or stop light). 4 Twist the top bulb socket counterclockwise and pull it. 5 Remove the bulb by pulling it straight out. 6 Insert the new bulb and re-attach everything. The socket will go back into place and the screws need to be put back. *leaks. Running the engine circulates oil into the new oil filter, and because filters hold from a half to a full quart of oil, you want to be sure that your filter is full to get an accurate reading on the oil dipstick. !? A 0 Part III: Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System 14. Shut off the engine and wait five to ten minutes for the oil to settle into the oil pan. Then remove the oil dipstick, wipe it with a clean, lint-free rag, and shove it back in. Pull it out again and check it. Keep adding oil a little at a time and checking the stick until you reach the "Full" line on the dipstick. (Refer to Figure 3-10 in Chapter 3 to see what an oil dipstick looks like.) 15. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle, drive around the block a couple of times, let the oil settle down again, and recheck the dipstick and the dashboard indicator. Remember, never keep running an engine or drive a vehicle that tells you its oil pressure is low. Because oil not only lubricates but also helps cool the engine, you can ruin your engine if you drive even a short distance with insufficient oil or with a defective oil pump. Use the Maintenance Record at the back of this book to record the vehicle mileage and date of the oil change. On the Specification Record at the back of this book, note the oil filter make and part number and the weight and number of quarts of oil you needed. These records not only keep track of when you need to change the oil again but also help you find the right parts quickly next time. They may even increase the price of your vehicle (if you ever decide to sell it) by giving the buyer confidence that the engine has been looked after. Although this process takes 15 steps to explain, it shouldn't take more than 15 minutes to accomplish, once you buy the necessary stuff. When you see how easy changing the oil is, you'll tend to change your oil more frequently, and your car will ride better, last longer, burn less fuel, and cause less air pollution. You'll feel pretty happy with yourself, too! 760

See Chapter 16 for details. Recycle your old oil Never dump oil onto the ground, throw it out with your regular garbage, or flush it down a drain. It's a major toxic pollutant that needs to be treated accordingly. So what do you do with your old oil? Use the funnel to pour it into one or more clean disposable containers with tight-fitting (preferably screw-on) lids — the bottles the new oil came in or old, washed soda bottles work well. MINI . Car will not idle and has an egine rattle code p1504?
P1504= Idle air control circuit malfunction Nissan NX. * Many auto parts stores and some service stations accept old oil for recycling. If you don't have one close by, look in your phone book for the nearest oil recycling center or toxic waste disposal center. You can also bring the old oil filter along. Be sure not to contaminate the oil by mixing it with another substance or putting it into a dirty container, or recycling centers may not accept it. A lube ^jo b involves applying lubricants (various kinds of grease and oil) to some of the moving parts under your vehicle and to some of the rubber parts to keep them supple. Your transmission fluid, power steering fluid, and brake fluid are lubricants, too. (See the monthly under-the-hood check in Chapter 3 about checking these fluids if you haven't already done so.) The parts of your vehicle that need periodic lubrication can include the steering linkage, transmission shift linkage, clutch linkage, parking brake cables, differential, and driveshaft universal joint fittings. Because some of these are hard to find and hard to reach, most require a special kind of lubricant. Because you can get into trouble if you don't deal with them properly, I suggest that, once or twice a year, you take your vehicle to the dealership or to a good independent repair facility. Have them lubricate everything that needs it — including the distributor, if your vehicle has one. The rest of the time, just lubricate the things that I point out in this chapter, and you'll be way ahead of the game. What do you lubricate when you do a lube job? What tools do you need? And how to you do it? This chapter answers all these questions. !? A ft Part III: Keeping Your Car in Good Condition, System by System MINI . They must be kept packed with grease to keep the components they protect moving freely without friction. Naturally, these are usually the parts that move the most, except for those inside your engine (which are lubricated with oil). Think about your vehicle and take a look at Figure 16-1. Where does most of the movement take place when you drive (not counting any kids in the backseat)? Well, the front wheels turn on wheel bearings, and they can change direction when you steer because of the steering linkage between the steering wheel and the front wheels. Your vehicle moves up and down on its suspension system and shock absorbers, which keep it level, even when the wheels are bobbing up and down on rough stretches of road.
